The impact of movies

The Impact of Movies Some people enjoy romantic movies, while others prefer horror, suspense, or action films. Everyone has their own taste when it comes to entertainment. However, movies are not just a source of entertainment; they also have a deep influence on our thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Have you ever wondered how much a movie can affect our lives? We often think that watching a movie is just a few hours of entertainment, but sometimes a single film can change the way we think, influence our decisions, and even shape our perspective on life. Every movie is made with a purpose. Some inspire us, some spread social awareness, some teach us about history, while others are created simply to entertain. In my opinion, no filmmaker intentionally makes a movie to mislead people. However, what a person learns from a movie depends entirely on their own mindset and understanding. Some people admire the hero, while others are fascinated by the villain. Sometimes, viewers become so emotionally connected to a character that they relate the story to their own lives. We cry during emotional scenes, feel angry when we see injustice, and smile during happy moments. As the scenes change, our emotions change as well. This is the psychological impact of movies. I have also noticed that movies and television programs have a particularly strong influence on children. They often consider their favorite heroes as role models and try to imitate everything they do. It is positive when they learn good values, but it becomes a concern when they copy dangerous or inappropriate actions without understanding the difference between fiction and reality. I remember that there was a time when the television show Shaktimaan was extremely popular among children. The superhero could fly, disappear, and perform extraordinary acts. At that time, there were many reports and discussions suggesting that some children tried to imitate those scenes, leading to unfortunate accidents. Although opinions differed about those incidents, they clearly showed how deeply children can be influenced by what they watch. Today, I also notice that even very young children easily memorize movie songs that become viral on social media. They quickly learn the dance steps as well. There is nothing wrong with enjoying music or dance, as they can contribute to a child's creativity and development. However, the concern arises when children start copying other things they see in movies, such as hairstyles, clothing, ways of speaking, or behaviors that may not be appropriate for their age. Nowadays, movies clearly mention the recommended age group for viewers. However, in the era of social media, any scene, song, or dialogue can reach millions of people within minutes. As a result, it is almost impossible to prevent children from being exposed to such content. Therefore, I believe that if we want children to grow up with good values and healthy habits, we must do more than simply restrict them. We should teach them the difference between entertainment and real life, helping them understand what is worth learning and what should be avoided. Parents, teachers, and society all share the responsibility of guiding children in the right direction. Movies are neither completely good nor completely bad. They are a powerful medium that can inspire us, educate us, and entertain us. At the same time, if we fail to watch them with understanding, they can also have negative effects. The real responsibility lies with us as viewers—to appreciate the positive lessons, reject the negative influences, and use entertainment wisely. When viewers become aware and responsible, the impact of movies can become a positive force in society. ©® Deeksha
